AB 2002 Introduced in Sacramento to Codify REAP 1.0 in State Law; SCAG Votes to SponsorAssemblymember Jose Luis Solache (D-Lynwood), former SCAG Regional Council member and Legislative/Communications and Membership Committee chair, last week introduced Assembly Bill (AB) 2002 to codify the Regional Early Action Program (REAP 1.0) grant program along with a proposed $125 million complementary budget request. The SCAG Regional Council approved sponsorship of AB 2002 and the budget request at the March 4 meeting. SCAG’s role in housing work has changed in recent years to include supporting jurisdictions and partners across the region to increase housing production—a shift made possible by state funding from the REAP program. |

2025 Federal Transportation Improvement Program Proposed Amendment #25-18 Available for Public ReviewSCAG received various program and project modifications to the 2025 Federal Transportation Improvement Program (FTIP), summarized as proposed Amendment #25-18, from the county transportation commissions representing Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, and Ventura counties. SCAG Awarded $1.6 Million in Grants for Traffic Safety ProgramsSCAG has been awarded $1.6 million in grant funding from the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS). The funding is for transportation safety improvements, including the expansion of a web-based transportation safety data and analytical tool that utilizes traffic safety data to analyze, model, and predict traffic safety performance and risks, as well as continued work on its regional traffic safety and community engagement program, Go Human. |
SCAG Releases Second Notice of Funds Available for the Lasting Affordability ProgramSCAG is pleased to announce the release of the second notice of funds available for the Regional Early Action Planning Grants (REAP 2.0) Lasting Affordability Program. Until Jan. 20, 2026, eligible applicants in the SCAG region can submit applications for a share of $20 million to support established housing trust funds and catalyst funds that have innovative financing programs or tools and are ready to receive funding. |
